Tanker Defense terms of service
These terms cover Tanker Defense: the game you play in your browser, and its apps for Android from Google Play and for iPhone and iPad from the App Store. By playing it, you agree to them.
Tanker Defense is published by 0cog Inc., a California corporation. How to reach us is at the end of this page.
Your licence to play
0cog Inc. gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play Tanker Defense for your own non-commercial use, on devices you own or control. If you got the app from a store, you may use it as that store's rules allow, for example on the devices linked to your account.
You may not copy, sell, rent, publish or redistribute the game or its content (its code, sounds, images and text), modify it, or decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows this whatever these terms say.
You're welcome to share screenshots and videos of your own games, as long as you don't suggest that 0cog endorses you or your channel.
Buying the app
The browser version is free. The Android app is sold on Google Play, and the iPhone and iPad app on the App Store, at the price the store shows. The store takes your payment and handles any refund under its own rules, and 0cog never sees your payment details. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads.
The store's own terms apply alongside these: Google Play's Terms of Service for the Android app, and Apple's Media Services Terms and its standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement for the iPhone and iPad app. Where these terms and Apple's standard licence disagree about the iPhone and iPad app, Apple's licence applies.
Game Center and Google Play Games
Leaderboards and achievements are optional. They're run by Apple (Game Center, in the iPhone and iPad app) and Google (Play Games, in the Android app) under their own terms and privacy policies, not by 0cog. The game plays the same without them.
It's a game
Tanker Defense is fiction. Its aircraft, threats, countermeasures and procedures are simplified and generic, drawn from unclassified concepts. It isn't training material and mustn't be relied on as such, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any armed force or government.
Changes to the game
We may update Tanker Defense, change or remove features, or stop offering it. The browser version updates by itself, and the apps update through their store. We try to keep the game working, but we can't promise it will always be available, or that it will work on every device or browser.
No warranty
As far as the law allows, Tanker Defense is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that it will be free of errors or interruptions.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, 0cog Inc. isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from Tanker Defense or these terms. Its total liability for any claim about the game is limited to the greater of what you paid for it and US$10.
Your rights as a consumer
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that a contract can't remove, such as the consumer rights of buyers in the European Union and the United Kingdom. Where these terms conflict with those rights, those rights apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Santa Cruz County, California, unless the law where you live lets you bring them in your own courts.

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the bottom of this page shows the latest version, and a change applies from that date, not to anything that happened before it. If you keep playing after a change, you accept the new terms.
